My dear friends and parishioners,
We are certainly living through a moment that history will not forget. Not only are we battling a terrifying pandemic, we’re also struggling with its effects on our economy. At Saint Jean’s we’re discerning measures to safeguard the solvency of the church during this time of quarantine . The Archdiocese has informed us that Masses will most probably be cancelled for the next eight weeks. This includes the celebration of Holy Week. This effects us spiritually and economically. It can mean a loss of $150,000 in essential income. I will inform you of the steps we’ve taken to cut our running expenses to a minimum in next week’s bulletin.
In the meanwhile, a few parishioners have hand-delivered their weekly donation envelopes, for which I am most thankful. I ask everyone not to forget St. Jean’s during the coming weeks. Here are several ways that you can maintain your weekly support:
The priests living at St. Jean’s gather every day to celebrate Mass. We pray for the safety of our parishioners, friends, family and health care workers. We pray that we will be able to gather for the celebration of the Lord’s Supper very soon. As we pray for you, we ask you to keep St. Jean’s in your prayers.
