The Camerata Orchestra and Others

The historic landmark Church of Saint Jean Baptiste possesses one of the only domes in a New York City, rising 175 feet above Lexington Avenue. Utilizing the acoustical “sweet spot” of the nave, ensembles perform directly under the dome at the center of the transept in what critics have described as a perfect acoustical setting. With a seating capacity of 850, the church is able to present orchestral and choral concerts with up to 250 musicians and, with the console of the Harris/Wicks Organ located in the front of the nave, choral ensembles can also be accompanied by the organ alone. Many ensembles include this space among their concert venues.

Camerata New York was founded in 1999 in Vienna, Austria. Now in its fifteenth season after re-establishing in New York. With a flexible ensemble of up to 50 players, Camerata performances have included collaborations with some of the finest artists and organizations.
